Massar believes in the importance of using creative tools to develop the potentials of young people and their awareness towards their surroundings. Massar employs music as an active tool to motivate creativity of young people.
Massar,a project of The Syria Trust for Development,in cooperation with the Embassy of South Africa, organised a music jam session between members of Buskaid “a South African band”, and young Syrian musicians professional and amateur from Sulhi Al-Wadi Music Institute, and Massar Discovery Centre in Lattakia.
The jam session created an atmosphere of musical and cultural dialogue. The participants interacted through African and Oriental music, where each group played selective music pieces to present their culture and heritage to others. Later on, all groups improvised upon different African and Oriental motives, resulting in a mixture between Cappella music,“Said Darwish” and “Baligh Hamdi” music.
The jam session took place at Massar Prototype Center on the 4th of July 2010.
