The Mobile Library project focuses on providing a local gateway to knowledge, and a basic condition for lifelong learning, independent decision-making and cultural development of the individual especially children and social groups in the remote rural areas. It aims at: (1) providing books at symbolic fee to community members in the underprivileged areas of rural communities, (2) promoting the habit of reading, and (3) encouraging students to use the libraries resources throughout the year. The project covers 62 schools in FIRDOS villages in Aleppo and Qunitera. FIRDOS two mobile libraries offer 4.624 books to 7.364 students in the primary schools (in addition to the rest of community members). FIRDOS statistics for the year 2006 showed that: The two mobile libraries provided in total 25.317 books. - 6.865 students had access to the library in 2006.
- 1.600 parents had access to the library in 2006.
- The two mobile libraries had 366 rounds to schools.
